Home is a non-profit enterprise serving homeless
and low-income people through a transitional
employment program in the organic farming business.
Growing Home's training program integrates job
readiness skills and basic business, health and
life skills instruction into a curriculum focused
on growing, marketing and preparing organic
produce. Their mission: To provide job training and
create employment opportunities for homeless and
low-income people in Chicago, within the context of
an organic agriculture business. Participants in
the transitional job program receive hands-on
training in organic agriculture, landscaping and
sales, as well as classroom training about organic
agriculture, food and nutrition, sales and
marketing, and general job readiness skills.
