Growing Home is a non-profit enterprise serving homeless and low-income people through a transitional employment program in the organic farming business. Growing Home's training program integrates job readiness skills and basic business, health and life skills instruction into a curriculum focused on growing, marketing and preparing organic produce. Their mission: To provide job training and create employment opportunities for homeless and low-income people in Chicago, within the context of an organic agriculture business. Participants in the transitional job program receive hands-on training in organic agriculture, landscaping and sales, as well as classroom training about organic agriculture, food and nutrition, sales and marketing, and general job readiness skills.

Then, in November and December, the Market moves indoors (location to be announced). The Winter Market is usually open the first three Wednesdays and Saturdays in November and December from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It's free and open to the public. Chicago's Green City Market is also working to establish a permanent, year-round central public market that supports local, sustainable agriculture.
