Simple Living Institute, Inc. was started in 2002
by a group of Central Floridians wanted to create a
stronger community that valued the environment,
personal health, and had a vision for a more
self-sufficient lifestyle. Since incorporation,
they've been reaching out to the community by
hosting educational programs at community parks and
universities, and at a property leased to them that
they have dubbed "the Econ Farm." (Econ Farm
Location: 16206 Hamilton Drive, Orlando, FL 32833).
Their official mission as a 501c3 non-profit is: to
scientifically research and develop working organic
farms with effective soil, water, plant and
wildlife conservation; to publish findings for the
scientific and general community; and to provide
cooperative education experiences empowering
individuals and organizations as responsible
stewards of their well-being and the environment.

The
Union Street Farmers' Market

humble beginnings selling under market umbrellas
provided by the Sun Center, today the market has
grown to fill the Sun Center mall every Wednesday
afternoon with 27 show tents with up to forty
vendors selling everything from conventional,
hydroponic and seasonal organic produce to pottery,
plants, honey, fruits, baked goods and other
prepared foods, as well as handmade crafts such as
soaps and beeswax candles, and world crafts brought
directly to the market by vendors who have traveled
far and wide to obtain them. Also, each week there
is live acoustic music on the stage behind the
Hippodrome Theatre.
